Scent Machine Instructions

  1. Insert two “C” Alkaline batteries into machine. We suggest using Duracell or Energizer batteries.
  2. Use small, flathead screwdriver to turn dial counterclockwise back to the five minute setting.
  3. Turn the “on/off” switch on the outside of machine to the “off” setting.
  4. Program machine for day setting by sliding switch to day when hunting early season.  Program machine for 24 hour setting when hunting the rut.  Night setting is for pre-season scouting or for deer locating with night camera.
  5. Slide can of scent into machine with spray nozzle facing you.  After programming, close cover.  Turn machine away from face and switch to the “on” position.  DO NOT turn on machine when facing you.
  6. Slide cover over machine with small hole over light sensor and large hole over spray opening.
  7. For best results, hang machine overhead on a tree limb.  During the early season, use daytime setting with Doe Urine or Buck Urine. On daytime setting, the machine will turn on when the sun rises and shut off when the sun sets.  Machine can also be turned off manually.  In night setting, hang machine overhead with a scouting camera positioned at machine or near machine to photograph deer as they approach.
  8. When hunting the rut, it is best to hang machine two days prior to hunt.  Insert can of Doe Estrous.  Program the machine to the 24 hour setting at five minute intervals. Hunt the area on the third day as more bucks will be drawn in by the third day.  One can of scent will last for three and a half days spraying every five minutes for twenty-four hours.
  9. When hanging the machine, take notice to the wind direction.  The scent must be directed toward the deer.  Deer cannot come to the machine if scent is blown in the wrong direction.
  10. Never place machine where you cannot see it or shoot to it.  When bow hunting, never place machine out of bow range.  Try to place machine where deer walk past you to get to it.
  11. Scent from machine travels hundreds of yards. Never walk machine down to a trail or bedding area.  Place machine upwind of trails and/or bedding areas approximately 75-100 yards. This leaves your area scent-free where the deer only smell the deer scent from the machine.
